I turned my son in a year ago. Had him followed by a “friend” for a few weeks. His activites were recorded, license plates were captured, I even went to far as to get a GPS to track his overnight trips to the “store”. After a month or so I turned all my information over to the police and let them run with it.
A few weeks after that, they arrested him. Now he is “known to police” and spending his time seeing probation officers, court-appointed anger management and of course, probabtion conditions that require constant updates as to his whereabouts.
He’s angry and frustrated. I’m saddened that I had to go that route but at least he’s finally taking the right steps to get away from the madness.

If more parents were like her and stood up for justice and all that, we would have less dead 17 year old turning up in Abbotsford. Face it, parents are either guilty by not telling Police what they know, or feign innocence until they are shown hard evidence.
The days of parents pretending that little Johnny or Suzy is innocent and a good person, all the while knowing full well what sort of dirt they are doing or hanging around with, are soon over.

There is nothing wrong with turning your child in. If you are at the point where your child might do hard time for his/her crimes, then they are already past the point of no return. If your child is now running with gangs, NOTHING you say or do will stop it. Only forcing them to face the consequences will stop them.
Otherwise, how can you, as a parent, stop them? Ground them? Threaten them with no more family vacations or, “kicking them out of the family?” If they are involved in gangs, you’ve already failed as parent. The best thing you can do now, is safe them.
Start documenting their activities.Buy a GPS and track them. Follow them and start recording license plates. Monitor as much as you can and turn it all over to the cops. Let them face a judge and do hard time. Obviously you can’t make them accountable, so let the judicial system try to.
Once they are gangsters, you have already lost. The best thing you can do to prevent yourself from going to their funeral is get them locked up. Tough love and hugs just won’t work.

Prison never rehabilitated anyone. It’s worse than running with a gang. Never hear of prison rape? And who could be more vulnerable than a young guy? If you have failed in your parenting and are unable to hold your own spawn accountable for their actions, then the absolute best thing for them is to face the real-life consequences. They will face the law, the courts and then jail and in doing so, you will have done everything possible to parent them right.
